Masters (Coursework)

The Master of Psychology (Ed and Dev) degree at ACU is a two year postgraduate course consisting of academic coursework, practical training in assessment, diagnosis and intervention, lifespan perspective, and completion of a research project.

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites:

    1. a Bachelor degree with honours in an accredited psychology course with minimum of IIA Honours completed in the last 10 years; OR
    2. a Bachelor degree with accredited four year major study in Psychology completed in the last 10 years;
      OR
    1. a Bachelor degree with accredited three year major study in psychology and satisfactory completion of an additional year of accredited study in psychology, or equivalent, with an overall mark equivalent to IIA Honours completed in the last 10 years; OR
    2. qualifications and experience assessed as equivalent by the selection committee;
      AND
  1. demonstrated suitability to undertake the course as evidenced by satisfactory:
    1. academic referee report;
    2. professional referee report; AND
    3. for short-listed candidates, interview with the selection committee;
      AND
  2. be eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia as a conditional/provisional psychologist.

  3. submit a resume alongside their formal application, demonstrating suitability for study and evidence of relevant industry experience and/or prior learning over a sustained period.

If applying as part of the Australian Government's Higher Education Relief Package (2020) initiative, applicants also must:

  • be over 18 years of age at commencement of course
  • be a domestic applicant
  • not be currently enrolled at ACU.
