Pros & Cons

  • Real responsibility from day 1 High level of exposure across functions of the business and senior management team Challenging work that allows for creative problem-solving.
  • The culture: My company is very fast-paced but supportive. Everyone knows how to work incredibly hard, but they also know how to play even harder.
  • You get ownership of a large brand portfolio, and have the ability to make big decisions for your brand's marketing strategy and then see the rewards/benefits of those decisions pay off!
  • Constantly motivated and challenged; Learn something new every day; More responsibility than any other company; Opportunities to present to the Leadership team.
  • Being in control of my day, my job and my destiny.
  • Steep learning curve initially.
  • The Hours - The nature of the business means that you are working relatively long hours, but the office is a fun place to be so time doesn't drag.
  • Being in control means there's no one else to blame when things go wrong.
  • Very Demanding - long hours and high pressure.
  • Co-ordination of different functions.

Culture

Culture
Strong comradery outside the office and generally within. It is still a very diverse and informal workplace considering its market influence in Australia. Structurally, the business is very flat and top management are extremely accessible. New office free desk structures mean all line managers work beside their team.

I think that the pay for a graduate is in-line if not slightly above average, and there is a clear salary progression program. Incentive conferences to international locations multiple work events and functions.

Training

Training
The majority of your training will happen on the job - you get thrown into the deep end so its sink or swim. Your colleagues that have been there before you will be a big support though and there are lots of training available to you if you need them.

Work Hours

Work Hours
I typically work 50+ hours a week, sometimes even more than this. There is flexibility in terms of hours, however, they reward you on your success and they demand high standards so if you are ambitious you will push yourself as much as you can
