OUR COMPANY

Next year, you could be part of our transformation, working with one of the largest energy companies in the world towards our industry-leading and the ambition of being a #NetZero company and helping the world achieve net-zero by 2050 or sooner. In our efforts to meet this challenge, which impacts every single person on the planet, we make some huge scientific breakthroughs and accomplish some genuinely astonishing engineering achievements. But for all of us, the most exciting things about working with BP is discovering what we, as individuals, are capable of what we can achieve together. It's an incredible business to be part of and an amazing time to be part of it.

Our role is to find, develop and produce essential sources of energy. We turn these sources into products that people need everywhere. The world needs energy and this need is growing. This energy will be in many forms. It is, and will always be, vital for people and progress everywhere. We expect to be held to high standards in what we do. We strive to be a safety leader in our industry, a world-class operator, a good corporate citizen and a great employer.

In Australia we are engaged in: the exploration for and production of oil, natural gas and liquefied natural gas; and the refining, transporting and marketing of petroleum and lubricant products. Via our refinery and a national network of terminals, depots and truck stops, we are one of the largest suppliers of fuel to Australia's industrial sector. We also have a network of some 1300 retail service stations.

OUR PEOPLE

It’s an exciting period of growth and opportunity at BP, as we continue to lead the evolution of retail convenience in Australia. Surprising and delighting our customers motivates us to keep pushing the boundaries, introducing new offers to the market and innovative technology. The most important form of energy comes from our people. Next year, you could be working at BP, one of the largest energy and emerging retail convenience companies in the world, with leaders who believe in the power of their people and in a culture that values respect, diversity, opportunity and shared success.

We’re looking for talented, driven and customer savvy graduates who not only want to understand the problems of tomorrow but be part of the solution! So we’ll welcome your ideas and opinions, trust you to do your job and treat you with genuine respect and consideration.

BP focuses on training and development.  From the start, you’ll have a ‘buddy’ and a ‘mentor’ and be able to connect in with like-minded peers internationally. You will also be part of a performance review cycle which is a key process in helping you reach your potential.  Over your Program, you will be able to engage in several professional and personal development opportunities, which include:

  • Working in ‘real job’ with ‘real accountability’ where you can truly make an impact

What Graduates Say About Them
  • Flexibility and work-life balance Support, you feel like a member of the team Variety in work content and the opportunity to develop and be challenged.
  • Exciting industry to be in.
  • Culture - everyone is very friendly and supportive (personally and professionally).
  • Some nice people here.
  • Flexibility, very friendly atmosphere.
  • Some cultural aspects, such as safety attitudes.
  • Minimal transparency on opportunities being available.
  • Depending on what team you are in you may be required to do a significant amount of work that does not utilise your tertiary level of education (typical of teams that do not have well established roles for graduates). I do understand though that someone has to do this work and a graduate is the most likely candidate...but it should not dominate in terms of time.
  • Graduate work is quite unfulfilling; lack of openness to fresh ideas.
  • Slightly bureaucratic.
