Hiring grads with degrees in:  Law & Legal Studies

MinterEllison is one of Asia Pacific's leading law firms. Established in Sydney in 1827, our firm today operates in Australia, Hong Kong, mainland China, Mongolia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom through a network of integrated offices and associated offices.

Our success has been driven by the vision of our partners, the in-depth industry expertise of our lawyers, and our commitment to work closely with clients to become our clients best partner.

We understand the challenges that businesses operating in a globalised marketplace face, and offer clients services that are multi-disciplinary and industry facing. Our deep understanding of how business is conducted in our region, local language skills, and proven track record for delivering outstanding work mean that clients access local experience and expertise that is informed by an international perspective.

MinterEllison's large and diverse client base includes blue-chip public and private companies, leading multinationals operating in the region, global financial institutions, government organisations and state-owned entities.

Our strong technical skills, underpinned by the ability to deliver innovative solutions that assist clients to achieve their business goals and objectives, have led to our firm's involvement in some of the Asia Pacific's most complex and high-profile transactions.

Our People

We have a total workforce of more than 1600 people, including 200+ partners and 680+ legal staff. Our lawyers come from a diverse range of backgrounds and universities but they all share the key attributes we look for in our clerks and graduates: passion for excellence, loads of initiative and superior technical ability. They're also full of energy, enjoy collaborating, think innovatively and are committed to their career in commercial law.

Clerkships

Our vacation clerkships offer real-life work experience. A comprehensive orientation program and learning on the job will help to build legal skills and commercial acumen. Clerks will work closely with inspiring partners and lawyers on active matters giving significant exposure to complex and challenging work.

The selection processes for our clerks are designed to be fun, informative and interactive. We want to ensure this important decision-making process is two-way, enabling us to find out more about the candidates, and for them to decide whether our firm is right for them. As such, successful applicants are invited to attend a clerkship information evening before formal interviews commence. This is a great way to get to know fellow candidates, learn more about the firm, meet our current graduates and banish those pre-interview nerves.

Graduates

Our clerkship program is the talent pipeline for our future graduates. Typically, our graduate positions are offered to candidates who have successfully clerked with us in the past. On occasion, some offices will advertise graduate positions externally. For details about our comprehensive graduate development program please visit our website.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • The new building is fantastic and the leadership in my team sets realistic expectations and timeframes with our clients.
  • Autonomy, collegiate atmosphere, non-hierarchical, development
  • Great access to very experienced individuals and leaders of the industry
  • The people. It is fantastic to work in an environment where the people truly support each other to achieve their potential.
  • The type of work that I get to do (the biggest projects for great clients) and the people I work with (my Partners are the best in the industry in their fields).
  • The firm does not celebrate its achievements enough. I feel that Minter Ellison is as good as any law firm in town, however that message has not always been effectively communicated to the market.
  • Long hours from time to time
  • Longer hours at work mean sacrificing some extracurricular activities in order to optimise work produce to supervisors and/or clients
  • There are times when you don't have much control of workflow.
