Purpose

Kick start your IT career with Cognizant's Salesforce graduate program! Develop both your technology and consulting skills on one of the most exciting platforms making a real impact with our customers today.

We will introduce you to Salesforce and guide you on the path to becoming an expert. You will receive mentorship from our experienced team of top local consultants and get first-hand experience on real projects, talking to customers with unique and interesting business challenges. Learning Salesforce along with Cognizant's consulting excellence will provide unparalleled opportunities for your professional growth. There are a wide range of professional paths to choose from, including consulting, technical solution design, sales and project delivery.

If selected, you will immediately commence a structured induction program under the Cognizant Academy and subsequently be assigned to a client engagement in Australia where you will work alongside experienced Cognizant Associates in delivering technology solutions. You will be embedded within the Cognizant teams that are currently delivering projects to our customers and you will learn skills that cannot be taught in a classroom and put into practice some of your theory and problem solving skills.

You will be given unique opportunities to work across one of many interesting technologies under Salesforce within specialized business units, where you will have the opportunity to be a team member that is currently delivering solutions within transformation engagements. You will be trained and mentored by top Cognizant experts and be exposed to the latest in methodologies from traditional Waterfall, through to Agile methods which are all transportable within your career.

Prerequisites

We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate:

  • Customer Service and Commercial Awareness – Do you drive to understand and satisfy customer requirements and want to deliver a high quality service to them, with an awareness of the commercial impact?

  • Innovation – Are you willing to generate different and innovative ways of doing things better?
  • Problem Solving – Can you effectively apply knowledge, skills and techniques in order to resolve problems?

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Configuration and development of the Salesforce platform for our customers' requirements, including functionality, troubleshooting and solution deployment
  • Preparation and execution of client presentations
  • Involvement in the elicitation of solution requirements
  • Taking part in project management tasks
  • Providing training to end-users
  • Interacting with our global teams and to collaborate in building solutions

A Candidate who will excel

Technical Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree specializing in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or similar.
  • Passion for technology.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Passion to learn and upskill.
  • Positive mind / Can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams.
  • Keen interest to pursue a long term career in the Digital & Information Technology.
  • Work within large/distributed client environments.
  • Create, update and maintain detailed design documents.
  • Resolve defects allocated within service level target.
  • Prepare reports & present as appropriate

General Competencies:

  • Strong customer focus and customer centric approach to work outcomes.
  • Capability to undertake a consulting position, evidenced by a well-developed oral and written communication skills, analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to effectively report and manage or escalate risk(s) and issue(s)

Qualification and Eligibility

  • Undergraduate degree in Software Engineering / Computer Science / Information Technology / similar
  • Open to Post Graduates/ Masters Students.
  • Completed studies in 2018 or 2019
  • Australian Permanent Residents and Citizens only.

Organization Structure

Position is formally designated as a Programmer Analyst. A dedicated People Manager will be assigned to the position to foster and develop professional growth. The position may predominantly be based on a Tier 1 client site. The Graduate Trainee may be required to report to client representative and/or other internal Cognizant Digital Business team member on specific project/s.

Other

Interstate or international travel may be required of this position. Any significant periods of travel or long-term placements will be agreed with the incumbent.

Cons

    • Requests for certain action items that need to be fulfilled sometimes take too long to be completed due to lengthy approval times.

    • The graduate program needs to be more structured so that our engagement and interest is maintained.

    • Frictional interactions between employees, especially with offshore teams, due to cultural differences.

    • Unsure of my direction or intent from management.

    • Clunky laptop, slow internal processes.
