The Australian Network on Disability is a national, membership-based, for-purpose organisation that makes it easier for organisations to welcome people with disability in all aspects of the business.
We are driven by our belief that people with disability are skilled and capable social and economic contributors, entitled to equitable opportunities in society. We work together with businesses across Australia to help increase their disability confidence, engagement and action.
It is widely agreed that the most valuable way to improve employment outcomes for people with disability is through innovative programs that help set them up for a lifetime of work. Internships and mentorships expose the business to people with disability and give vital work experience to job seekers. The Australian Network on Disability (AND) offers two unique programs that link employers with talented people with disability.
Stepping Into Internships started in 2005. Seven law students with disability were given an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and capabilities so that they could compete on a level playing field with other law students. Now, it is open across all industries and has become a highly valued talent pipeline for business actively seeking to employ people with disability to their graduate programs. Stepping Into Internship Program is a paid internship program that can help you to gain paid, hands-on work experience in your chosen industry. The Australian Network on Disability (AND) works closely with our members, who are leaders in Australian business, to find quality paid internships. You can get on-the-job skills, build your network of contacts and develop your confidence and experience in the workplace.
Positive Action towards Career Engagement (PACE) Mentoring, matches job seekers with a disability with mentors from leading Australian businesses who can support them to develop their skills and confidence in a workplace setting. PACE gives you an opportunity to develop your skills and confidence in a workplace setting. Mentees are paired with an experienced professional who you will meet with six to eight times within a four-month period. The meeting lasts between one and two hours. You can discuss your career goals and aspirations, and get help to develop a plan for your personal and professional development.
