About this course

Provides the skills and knowledge required to read and interpret plans and specifications, apply basic levelling procedures, carry out measurements and calculations, handle and prepare bricklaying/blocklaying materials and use bricklaying and blocklaying tools and equipment. Apprentices will work with clay and concrete masonry and other types of building materials in mortar on veneer and full brick construciton, partitions, arches and other structures. Tasks may include working from plans and specifications, setting out and laying bricks, checking vertical and horizontal alignment, using various tools, constructing arches, fireplaces and ornamental brickwork and related structures, and operating brick-cutting machines.

Entry requirements

This course is for apprenticeship training only. Students must be employed as apprentices in a relevant industry.
