The Bachelor of Medical Science is a practical course designed to ensure you graduate with knowledge in sciences, study and research skills and professional health experience. While studying this course you will have the flexibility to specialise and pursue career opportunities in biotechnology, clinical measurement, nutrition or pathology.
The biotechnology specialisation will prepare you for the medical research or biotechnology industries. With an emphasis on cutting-edge technologies in the development and application of therapeutics, you are ideally placed to pursue a career in the biopharmaceutical industry or medical research laboratories.
The work of clinical measurement scientists centres around four primary disciplines - cardiac sciences, neurophysiology, respiratory sciences and sleep sciences.
Choosing to study the nutrition specialisation will enable you to work with individuals or communities to promote healthy lifestyle choices and prevent diet-related disease.
The pathology specialisation will prepare students for employment in diagnostic medical laboratories where haematological, biochemical, microbiological and histological analysis of human blood, urine and tissue samples is conducted.
This unique program has been developed alongside industry professionals and gives you the opportunity to complete placements in real-world settings, allowing you to further enhance your employability and put your learning into practice.
If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America, you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University.
Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion within the last 5 years or:
completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or United states of America, which will meet the English proficiency.
If you do not satisfy any of the above you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores as below:
English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.
