This degree encompasses areas such as child protection, cross-cultural and Indigenous studies, ethics, human rights, law, mental health, social policy, and in-depth study of social work methods and theories. You'll learn about people, communities, groups and social structures and how to think, communicate, and respond to need and opportunity.

Entry requirements

To be admitted to the Master of Social Work (Professional Qualifying) students require: Successful completion of a recognised three-year degree with at least one year of full-time studies in human services and/or social science (studies of the individual and society) or related content, including successful completion of a subject in each of the following areas: Communication for human services/critical thinking and; Human development or life span psychology and; Sociology/anthropology/social theory and; Introduction to social welfare/work/human services. The full year of pre-requisite study and/or specified content must be completed prior to commencing study. Where prerequisite study has not been met, it can be completed: by single subject studies; and/or     through the Graduate Certificate in Human Services, for students who are assessed as having already completed six months/four subjects of relevant content; and/or as part of another qualification at undergraduate or postgraduate level English Language Proficiency Standard English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements. Please note: While CSU standard English Language Proficiency requirements satisfy the entry criteria for this degree, an academic IELTS with a minimum overall score of 7 and with no score below 7 in each of the individual skill areas may be required by the Australian Association of Social Workers  for employment purposes, in accordance with its English Language Policy (https://www. aasw. asn. au/document/item/139).
