The Master of Religious Education is for students with a special interest in religious education at school, parish, or diocesan level. It will enable religious educators to become thinkers, researchers, evaluators and leaders in their field.

This is a relevant, flexible and challenging Masters degree that produces graduates who can:

  • access and communicate Christian and other religious traditions effectively
  • explore and critique issues in the literature of religious education
  • contribute to the professional discussion and writing in the field of religious education
  • demonstrate familiarity with creative approaches to religious education
  • assess the influence of cultural and historical factors in the development of religious education
  • reflect critically on the integration of the personal, spiritual and professional dimensions of religious education.

Entry requirements

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites:

  1. Bachelor degree in Education; or
  2. Bachelor degree in an area other than Education; and
    1. a recognised teaching qualification; or
    2. a Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies or equivalent.
