ResMed Graduate at ResMed

My career at ResMed so far:

Still during the early stages of my first rotation in the Patient Interface Research & Technology team, I’ve been able to use my knowledge to design and develop prototypes that could one day find its way into a commercial device. It’s exciting to think that even as a fresh graduate, the work that we do has a genuine purpose. Having studied biomedical engineering at university, it was always my goal to work in the development of medical devices because I believe that in doing so, we can have a real impact on people’s lives. I have enjoyed my experiences so far, and am always looking ahead to the inevitable challenges that I’ll face as an engineer in a company that does something important and meaningful.

What makes ResMed special:

ResMed’s nurturing cultural environment is its reason for success. The matrix structure of the company facilitates and encourages collaboration both within teams and across disciplines. ResMed’s commitment to innovation allows us to discover and develop the best solutions for our customers and provides us with the most rewarding outcomes of our work as engineers, which is to improve the quality of life for millions of people worldwide.

I love engineering because:

Engineering is an embedded profession necessary for economic and intellectual societal growth. In the right environment, engineering teams are capable of some extraordinary feats—some we observe in inspirational awe, and others that slip seamlessly into our everyday lives. So what is there not to love about engineering? No other profession quite allows you to impact people and the world in so many different and interesting ways.

The best thing about being a graduate at ResMed:

ResMed is an excellent example of a global company that exhumes high quality and innovation across the entire life cycle of a product. The exciting experience for us as graduate engineers is that we are able to be involved throughout this cycle—from surveying the market and analysing our competition, to designing and developing functional solutions, and finally manufacture and commercial distribution—which provides us with an opportunity to see where our individual skills and competencies best fit into the overall ResMed team. The graduate program is a fantastic platform from which to build a successful career in engineering.
