What did you study? When did you graduate?

A Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) and Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) – graduated December 2018.

Where did you grow up? 

Brisbane.

How did you get to your current job position?

Through a two-stage interview process. I have been working here for four months now.
 
How did you choose your specialisation?

I previously worked as an undergraduate engineer for mining companies during my studies but always wanted to work in finance. I now work in the Natural Resources Group at Deutsche Bank, which is a great fit considering my background.
 
What kind of interview questions were you asked? 

Questions relating to the economy as a whole, specific deals that have recently been in the news and practical valuation questions requiring logical thinking.

What does your employer do? 

Deutsche Bank's corporate finance business provides the full range of investment banking products and services for large-cap and mid-cap corporates, financial institutions, governments, government agencies, hedge funds and financial sponsors.
I work in the Corporate Finance division of Deutsche Bank within the Natural Resources Group, predominantly assisting clients within the mining industry.

What are your areas of responsibility? 

I currently work on transactions and pitches for the bank, preparing materials for client meetings and documents relating to transactions.

Can you describe a typical work day?

There is no typical work day; every day there involves something new that comes along and requires a new way of thinking.
 
What are the career prospects with your job?

The analyst program lasts for several years, which includes offshore training. Also, there is the opportunity to work globally if you would like to do so.
  
What do you love most about your job?

I enjoy how there is an opportunity to learn something new about a different business in the resources sector every time I am given a new piece of work.
