Legal Officer at Attorney-General's Department (AGD) at Attorney-General's Department (AGD)
I’ve rotated through the Office of International Law, Royal Commissions Branch and gone on secondment to one of the Attorney-General’s Department portfolio agencies.
There is a range of interesting and exciting tasks that I do in my day-to-day. I particularly enjoy legal advice writing and being involved in litigation/hearings. I’ve also found that corporate activities are a rewarding way to get involved in the Department. I am currently the Communications Officer for the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Committee, which involves helping to organise and promote a range of diversity events – they often include yummy food, interesting speakers and celebrating different cultural events from around the world. As part of the Graduate Fundraising Committee, I also helped organise a therapy dog visit during Mental Health Week (the pups were very cute!).
Outside of work I like to hang out with my friends, go to the farmer's markets, check out the galleries and take trips to the coast. Sometimes the grads head over the north side for a boogie on a Saturday night, so Sunday mornings are often spent peeling myself out of bed and finding a new breakky spot.
Canberra is a really wonderful place to live in. If you’ve come from a big city as I have, you are likely to appreciate the complete lack of traffic, community vibe and fresh air! Although it’s a definite change of pace, there’s no shortage of fun stuff to do.
